The photo that really capitured my attention was the Jason Lee/Reuters. The reason the picture grabbed my attention the most was the texture of the picture. The element of art I see the most in the picture is Texture. If you look at the outside of the picture you see the texture of the picture, i think the texture of the picture is more capitvating then the subject. The texture sort of gives you a mistery to the subject, like why she is playing basketball in like a cave.

My favorite picture was pillow pugilists from the week of feb.9-15. The movement that's blurred in this photo is so interesting to me. The dark background brings the main focus to the actual pillow fight. I also like the fact that there is so much chaos in this picture but it still seems like there is a center of focus on the man in the front.

The picture I liked most was titled "Religious Festival". It was a picture taken during the week of Feburary 2nd to the 8th. The value in this picture is interesting to me. Even though it does not include several different tones of black and white, the amount of pure black and pure white is evenly balanced throughout the picture. I am fond of the way neither of the two people in the picture reveal their identity; is mysterious in a way.

The one that really caught my eye was the one with all the fish.(Feb 9-15) I really liked all the colors even though the only color in there was blue really. But I really like how they blended all the fishes together and the colors too.

My favorite picture is the Rain-soaked Rose. I really like how in the picture you can see a rain drop that has fallen onto the cement. The rose is also really pretty. It reminds me of a light in darkness, becuase the rose is such a bright color and the background and surrondings are grim colors such as grey and black. The elements of art represented in this photo are definately contrast and colors.(The light and dark), textures, the smooth cement and the soft rose, spaces, and shapes.

The picture that captured my attention the most was called Tornado Torment from the week of Feb. 9-15. I think it grabbed my attention because of the emotion this picture represents. Nature does wild things to society and the photographer did well in focusing on the two women. It was also great in using the rule of thirds and i think it would be distracting if the entire picture was in focus. I say this because you first see the women to the right and then glancing at the background you understand why they are emotional. The light coming from the right side is great for it casts a good contrast of lights and darks on the women, making the value of the photo great. The spacing is good and the lines aren't distracting. The shapes are organic so you know its nature based and the texture is comforting. This picture follows all the elements of art and has quality which grab your attention!

The picture I liked best was titled, "Cave Ball". What I liked about this picture is that the room of the cave looks almost like a very violent storm that is appoaching. Yet in fact it is only the room of a cave. I also like how the girl is captured as she is releasing the ball. The curves in the "ceiling" are very deceptive and cause you take take another look at the picture and it also makes you want to read the caption.

I chose the picture "Muddy Respite" as my favorite one. This picture really captures the boys in their funny humor of racing down the mud slide. This picture shows a spilt second in time of them having fun. I really like how their skin is the color of the background and the only contrasting color in the picture is the black shorts. Really what this picture brings out is a certain mood. That is what I got from it.

The picture that grabbed my attention the most was picture #4 in the week of Feb. 9-15. I find it interesting because the photographer was able to portray the sense of loss, saddness, and helplessness that the women are feeling. The photographer used the rule of thirds and a large aperture in order to capture and enhance the emotions of the women in the foreground, while showing the reason for their saddness in the background. I think it is a strong photograph that shows the terrible results of the hurricane that these people must deal with.

The picture that I like the most is the one titled Muddy Respite (Feb2-8). It's interesting to me how they were able to make the background so blurry, and make the children so clear. I also like how there are only 2 colors in the picture: brown and black, and how the color of the children's skin matches the mud. When you first look at the picture it almost looks like the children are floating off the side of an incredibly steep hill.

This site does not work on my computer at home (the pictures are just x's), and the school computers only open up part of the first picture, so I critiqued that one. The one that was able to display was one with confetti flowing over a celebrating Chinese crowd. The first thing that caught my eye was the depth of the picture; the confetti is slightly out of focus (but not so much that one can't tell what it is), placing the emphasis on the crowd underneath it. The colors of the confetti are bright, bold, and everywhere, which contributes to the excited, almost chaotic atmosphere of the celebration. The fact that there isn't one main focus of the picture also adds to the frenzied mood. From the part of the picture that I can see, it adequetly captures the feelings and mood of the actual event.

The picture i liked the most was "crowning moment". The aspect of the picture that grabbed my attention the most was how the team is all connected through the trophy. The picture does not have any distracting objects in the background that draw your attention away. Also, i like how you can see the texture of the rain drops on the championship trophy.

My favorite picture was the one of the superstar. It really looks like a big eye in the sky. There is a lot of color to the piture also. Everything around the red star is really bright which makes this picture stand out even more and it is very clear too. It almost looks as though everything is coming at you which makes it a lot more interesting to look at.

The picture I like best is the Night Lights picture. I like how colorful the picture is and how the lanterns give off a light sun setting glow. I also like how the line of lanterns leads to the building to draw you inside.

the foto that captured my attention was the "muddy respite" piece. The looks of excitement on these childrens faces is focused on, by making the backround blurry and the three subjects focused. The symetry of the three boys also adds an artistic element to this shot. The photographer was aable to capture the speed the boys were sliding at by using a high shutter speed. This is a really interesting and emotional picture.

My favorite picture from Feb.9-15 was titled "Something Fishy". This picture brings in different textures from ripples in the water that the fish are in. Eash fish also has a vertain amount of yellow on their fin which makes each one stand out. In a way, I can get lost in the picture just by looking at it. There are many different groups and you can almost see lines when looking at certain groups of the fish. This is a really cool picture.

The picture that grabbed my attention the most was "Crowning Moment".This picture especially stood out because of the diversity of the hands holding the football, which shows that no matter where you come from you can achieve greatness. The blurry background and the light shining on the football and the snow sticking to the hands adds to the dramatic effect of the photo.

I liked "Night Lights" the most. The bright colors of the lights against the dark sky create a great contrast, and the repetition of all of the lanterns is interesting. The picture also uses the diagonal lines created by the strings of lights to lead the eye to the lower right corner, therefore using the rule of thirds. I also like the people looking up into the lights.

my favorite picture was the Jason Lee/ Reuters where the kids are playing basketball in what appears to be a cave. The picture is really cool because at first glance it looks like it is just dark outside. But a second look you will notice a really cool ceiling. The ceiling grabbed my attention the most because of the rocks sticking out of it. Also how the lights hit it. half of it is visible have of it isnt. Paul Fredieu

My favorite picture, was the Jason Lee/ Reuters of the kids playing basketball. This one was one that drew my attention. A mix of a modern game played in an ancient place. at first glance it looks like they are inside playing on a really dark and stormy day. so it kind of gives a dark feeling. but the kids are the only thing that have a deep color, so they tend to stick out with what they are doing

I liked the superbowl trophy picture the most. It showed the emotion of the game for not only Manning but the rest of the Colts. The rule of thirds was used in this picture putting the trophy in the upper portion of the picture.

I liked the picture of the Colts holding up the superbowl trophy. This picture shows all lines converging onto one focal point, making you look at the trophy. The depth of field is used very well only showing the players and the ball and not other things in the background that may be distracting. I like the way the light hits the trophy to make it shine and also the reflection of the crowd in the trophy. The image of the hands reaching for and touching the ball gives a sense of victory and helps to show how the players felt when they finally reacheed their goal

The picture I liked best was from October 210-26 of "up up and away". What I liked best about this picture was the sun behind the hot air balloons. It really makes them stand out. I liked how the rule of thirds was used. The clouds in this picture are beautiful and give the picture as a whole a calm effect.

The picture i liked the most was couples kissing at the annual Lovbapolooza Valentine celebration. This picture was in week Feb. 9-15. The bright colors of this picture caught my eye. The element of art that i saw was lines because of the confetti.

Unknown said...

I really liked the first picture, entitled Lovapalooza, from the week of Feb 9-15. I like how the subject of the photo isn't obvious but your eyes are still directly lead to the couple on the right in the foreground. Their position illustrates how the rule of thirds can add interest to a photograph. I like how the colors are all warm and bright. Also I like how the confetti falls just so that you can't make out a lot of the features of the couple, it's
anonymous yet intimate.

the picture i liked the best was the one of the cute little asian kid holding a firework. this picture stood out to me because of the contrast between the sparks and the nighttime sky. one of the reasons i like this picture is because its cute! and of course because of the use of the rule of thirds with the firework. if the photographer was to shoot this picture again, he or she should think of a better title than 'sparkling new year.'

The picture with the couple standing on the dock with all of the lights reflecting in the lake was my favorite picture. All the different colors were really interesting looking and made the dark night picture look very virbrant. I also like how the couple stood out on the dock because the brightest light was surrounding them and they break the bright light line pattern.

In the football picture, with all the players touching the trpohy, I like how the backround is blurred and the main focus is the trophy. It shows a team come together to win. You could also see the rain in the backround and on the trophy shows they can win in any weather.

My favorite picture is titled "Something Fishy". The reason i chose this picture was because i like the similar shades of blue. I like how the picture follows one main color scheme. I also like how the tails of the fish stand out because thats the first thing that catches my eye. Katie S. 6th period

I liked the "Night Lights" photograph. I liked the repetition of lines, and the lights silhouetted against the dark background. Because the building in the background was so tall, it appeared very majestic. The strings of lights draw the eye to the building - as a focal point.

I particulaly enjoyed the picture titled "Romantic Reflection". Not only is the main subject placed using the rule of thirds, the lines of the reflecting lights is very eye catching. The bigger section of the goldish colored light catches your eyes, then leads it to the subject as it tapers off.

I love the romantic reflection shot. I think the black dark water contrasts with the vibrant lights reflected on it. I think the people are cool because they are the only focus in the print and this allows for space and at the same time a set point of view. I love this picture its amazing!!

uhm, I really liked the 2007 sparkler picture. I thought it was pretty cool because in order to captrue what she was spelling out, the photographer needed to expose their film for a very long time. I don't see any real elements of art except for maybe the brightness of the yellow against the dark background. that's about it really.

The picture i liked most after spending many hours deciding was the Cave Ball picture. The picture was in week 9-15. The sky (cave ceiling)grabbed my attention right away and left me asking myself what is that? The cave ceiling has lots of different circular shapes in it and the old stone wall behind the hoop is full of texture. The shapes and texture are both fine elements of art that enhance this picture in many ways.

From robert Barta-Mr Bishop I sent this to you monday but i will do it again.
My favorite picture was the Jason Lee/Reuters picture of the kids playing basketball in the cave. I enjoyed this picture because everything in the picture is a dull grey whilr the kids are presented in bright color. Another thing that i really enjoyed about the picture was the unussual texture on the ceiling. It was a very interesting picture that you never see.

My favorite photo was "Night Lights" (Feb 9th-15th). I really liked that the main focus of the picture was the lights leading up to the building in the back round. The colors in the picture are extremely eye catching, and all of the different values defiantly kept me interested.

Having a Ball,
In this picture, I really liked the way the photographer captured this action, but at the same time the subjects are still a little bit blurry due to their motion. It captured my eye because I thought it was pretty because of the big white dresses, the lighting, the romantic setting and the color. Some of the elements of art in this picture are the bright colors, the obvious texture of the dresses and dramatic lines.

The picture that captured my attention the most is "Something Fishy." The aspect of the picture that grabs my attention the most is the green color of the tails of the fish against the clear blue water. The elements of art that I see the most is the color, but there is also texture of all the fish together and also the lines that the fish make up against the water.

My favorite is Night Lights (#9, Feb 9-15). The glow cast by the lanterns creates an intimate mood, which is definitely eye catching, as is the repetition of the paper lanterns. Diagonal lines lead the eye towards the lit building. Also, there are muted colors cast on the onlookers by the brillant lights.

The picture that got my attention was the one labeled rubber versus stone. The part of the picture that attracted my attention the most was the giant face making a peace sign at the soldiers. I see space and form in this picture. Also the picture shows how big the face really is when you see the soldiers standing next to it and it gives you a greater respect for the artist.

The photo that caught my attention most was the visitors observing a turtle inside a sealife aquarium in Hanover on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007.I love how the lighting and water give the picture a spacial depth of being surrounded by water.I also like how the picture gives a at peace feeling by capturing the turtle gliding across the water. The picture that appeals to me the most is #2 from Feb 9-15 called Super Star. I really like infrared photography and I wish there was an assignment where we got to experiment with it. I like how all the colors are not what they would be when viewed by the naked eye. The only thing I dislike with this photo is that the star is centered in the frame. But this is because it was taken by NASA and they aren't trying to incorporated the elements of art into their photos, they want the photos to study. Still I like this picture a lot. It does look like an giant eye watching over us. Kind of eerie if you ask me :P
