Copy Assignment - Due Monday, March 26th

This assignment will demonstrate the proper use and application of camera filters. Before beginning this assignment please read the following web page: http://photo.net/equipment/filters.html

To do this assignment you will need the following:

1. Camera and film, T Max 400
2. A magazine picture with bright colors which include red, blue, green and yellow.
3. Gray mounting board.
4. Tripod or copy stand
5. Gray card
6. Flood lights
7. Dry mount tissue
8. Filters: Red, Green, Blue and Yellow

Dry mount the picture onto the gray mounting board. Follow the dry mount procedure that you were shown in class. Using a black marker draw a line around your picture that is out one fourth inch. Then using a copy stand or mount your picture on the bulletin board per my instructions, proceed to get ready to take the assigned shots. With the copy stand you will mount your camera per instructions; with your picture on the bulletin board you will need a tripod and set it and the lights up per my instructions. You will be taking five shots each using the following filters; red, green, blue and yellow and at the same time adjusting the ASA number on your camera. Your first shot is the only one that will have a normal exposure. As you change the ASA setting the camera meter will indicate that your exposure is incorrect but that will be okay.

Use the following procedure:

1. Choose a filter and put it on your camera.
2. Set the ASA on 200.
3. Set the f-stop on 11.
4. Have someone hold the gray card in front of your picture or if you are using the copy stand or just lay it on your picture.
5. Adjust the shutter speed to get a normal exposure.
6. Take the gray card away and squeeze the shutter button.
7. Set the ASA to 160, check the focus and squeeze the shutter button.
8. Set the ASA to 125, check the focus and squeeze the shutter button.
9. Set the ASA to 100, and do the same.
10. Set the ASA to 80, and do the same.

You will need to fill out a log sheet for this assignment.
