Class Work - Aug 28th, 29th and 30th, 2007

I had to show off my little man. This is who I have been taking care of since I am not at school. I took this picture when he was just a few hours old.

Ok, enough of the show and tell. How many of your are enjoying looking at pictures? I hope all of you are since this is photography class. On your own, start looking at pictures you find online of any category. These categories can include people, sports, architecture, landscape and nature to name a few.

Do any of you know the names of any famous photographers? We are talking the ones that made it big. Big...I mean selling a print for $150,000...Big. Well, if not, I hope by the end of the week you will. Please click on this link to access a list of famous photographers. Preview several names of photographers and put together a short biography of your favorite. In the biography I would like you to at least cover these characteristics of your selected photographer.

1. What were they known for (type of photography?)
2. What were their most popular images? Please feel to include a picture or two if you can. Just be sure to give credit.
3. What are some interesting facts about your selected photographer.
4. What years did the photographer live?
5. Where is the photographer from?
6. What format did the photographer choose to shoot? (Format- usually refers to size of the negative - 4x5, 3x5, etc.
7. Try to find technical information about the type of camera equipment the photographer used.


Here are just some items I want you to include in the biography. If you find something that is not listed but you feel should be include, please include it. Please submit this biography in essay format. Each of your computers has Microsoft Word. Please use the next three days researching a photographer, selecting your favorite and completing this biography. Save all of your work to your network folder. Do not save to the desktop.

All biographies will be typed and submitted to me on Tuesday, September 4th. Please make sure you double space and use #12 times new roman font. Please put your name, date, period and class in the upper right hand corner. Centered above the body of your paper is a title. Please underline and make the title of BOLD text.

You MUST use your own wording for this paper. You may NOT copy and paste text out of a web page. If you do use complete quotes out of a web page you must cite your work. Just note it and tell me where you got it from. I am thinking this biography should be between one and two pages in length.
