Today you are going to review the three links under the heading Elements of Art Helpful Links. This heading and the links can be found as you scroll down the blog on the right column. Please click on each and review the seven elements of art. When you are done reading you should understand what each element is and how they can be applied to photography.
Now, please review your favorite four photographs from Friday's class work. What elements of art come into play with each photo you selected as your favorite?
Again, please respond to THIS post as a comment. Include your name, period, week of favorite photograph, title of favorite photograph and what elements of art come into play with your favorite image. I think the main elements of art that come into play in this photo are lines, color, space and form because the string gives the illusion that it occupies space.

Rachel Nagy, 2 period, Aug 10-16, Light Festival. The element that is the strongest in this picture is obviously color. The contrast between reds and purples makes it geometric.

Pollen Peddler- This picture has really good texture, the flower looks very soft in the picture and it makes the viewer want to reach out and touch it. This picture was veru interesting because of the close up view of a bee and a flower that can not normally be seen to the human eye.

Topsy-Turvy- This picture was a very unique picture and captured my attention automatically because of the shape of the upside down house. It showed an interesting perspective on a house throught the shape of it.

Remembering Hiroshima- The color of this picture really stood out to me. The candles floating on the river were very vibrant and beautiful. The colors instilled a sense of relaxation, hope and peace.
Aug 10- 16
Helmet Cam- I really enjoyed the form of this picture because it made it seem like you were in the photograph. This picture looked very realistic in what the earth would look like from outer space.

the week of july 20th i chose the picture of the eyes following the two people walking on the street.that picture showed good value. it was colorful. and it had good space.
for the week of july 27 i chose the picture of the native man. this picture shows good texture and also good a variety of color.
for the week of august 3rd i chose the picture of the polar bear.the picture had good value and texture.
for the week of august 10th i chose the picture of the fair. this picture had good lineage, color, value and shape.

The prevalent element in this photo is form. The form of the boxes basically makes an optical illusion.

Pic: Flood Ride
There are many lines that all point towards the far end of the street. Lots of Cooler/Neutral colors. The water has the texture of...water. Deep space is also apparent.
July 27 - Aug 2
Pic: Topsy-Turvy
Many apparent lines on the house; it is a rectangular buildin after all. The people and the house all have form. Color: many cool colors in the trees, bits of warmer colors in the people, striking nuetrals on the house (is brown nuetral or warmer?). Shallow Space: the house takes up most of the picture; the people take up a decent bit of whats left.

Every lantern is a form. Lots of vibrant warm colors, some cooler blues. Different values on most lanterns. Gives the illusion of deep space.

Pic: Masked Celebration
The mask is an apparent form. Lots of neutral color. The warmer color sticks out. Shallow Space.

This picture is my favorite because i really like pictures like these of the sun. It has good value and space elements in the picture. The colors of the sun rays also catch my eye.

This picture immediately caught my eye with the very bright reds and yellows. It shows very good elements of color and also space.

I like this picture because of the humor in it and also the cool tv's. I also like the texture of the floor and walls. This picture also has elements of lines, color and space.

Value is the most important element in this photo.The shading in the slur of bike riders allows the picture not to look messy.
July 20-26 Walkie Past The Talkie
Value and Shap both seem to play an importance in this picture. The painting is 2-d but vale allows it to look 3-D.

In the bus lane picture the most obvoius element in the picture is the contrast between the road and the ater covering the road.
July 27th-2nd
The upside down house definitly showed a lot of shape considering the house was flipped completely so the element would be shape.
Aug. 3-9th
Remembering Hiroshima showed the element of space because it showed a bunch of people standing around and praying for the people who were hurt in the bombing.
Aug 10-16th
The light festival showed the element of color because purple and red lights which caught your before anything else.
Nikki Reinert, period 2, the first photo i chose for my favorite was in the week of July 20th through the 26th. This picture was called Pollen Peddler, I think this picture has bright colors. But this picture has a balance with colors, it is just two main colors tyed together. This picture also has form to it because the flower middle is much like a sphere.
This picture doesnt have any real shapes it looks mostly like form.
There are some lines such as wavy to detail the petals.
There is also space in this picture the space between random few petals is a very nice balance and looks really pretty. The picture has a little texture in the center, And lastly value, which this picture is lacking of, but there is a little bit of texture on the small pointy things in the center of the flower.

This picture was of a bee and a huge up close yellow flower.This picture has a lot of texture. The texture was most found in the center of the yellow flower. You can tell that the texture is bumpy and soft.
July 27-Aug 2 Bridge Disaster-
This picture was of a bridge collapsing, the cars sliding off, and concrete crumbling. This picture also has a lot of texture in it because of the concrete all broken up. It gives it a rough and a hard texture.
Aug 3-9 Air Dry-
This picture was of a polar bear shaking off a lot of water. This picture has a lot of value. The white bear against the black backround shows the lightness from the darkness.
Aug 10-16 Birds of a Feather-
This picture is of two flamingos. This picture has shape. I chose shape for this one because it looks like they are forming a unique shape with their necks.

Light Festival: The elements that apply are color, line, shape, texture and balance.
after I did this one, I couldn't get the pictures to load, So I am going to finish it at home.

From the week of July 20-26, i chose the flower shower photo. In that photo the elements of art used were color, form and space. Color because of all the differnt colors seen. form because all of the objects are 3 deminsonal and they take up space. Space because some objects appear to be on a differnt surface.
For the week of july 27-Aug2 I chose Parisan tour. In that photo the elements of art that were used are line, shape, color, form and space. Line was used because the eiffle tower is used within the same path. Shape because the eiffle tower was contained by lines. Color, because the color used catches the eye. Form because objects captured are 3-d. Space because the bikers appear to be at differnt levels.
For the week of Aug3-9 the photo i chose was Air Dry. The elements of art used are form, texture and space. Form because the water coming off of the dog is 3-d and occupies space. Texture because the texture of the dogs fur was captured. Space because the dog and water takes up space.
For the week of Aug10-16 the photo i chose was swimmer out of water. The elements of art used are line, shape, form, color, texture and space. Line was used because the tiles out of the pool are contained with lines. Shape was used because the person, water booie, and leg all have shape. Color because the photo contains color. Texture because the floor has texture, and the water. Space because everything in that photo occupies space.
Nikki Reinert, period 2, one of my other favorite pictures is in the week of July 27th through August 2nd and this picture has a nice blend of color in the bike riders coats. This picture also includes space, value and texture. It has value because of its unique colors and the blend in them. The picture stands out in its texture because of the beautiful building in the backround.
Nikki Reinert, period 2, another picture that is one of my favorites is in the album of August 3rd through the 9th. This picture is called Historic Homer, the firts things i noticed in this picture are its unique color, space and texture. There are many blended colors and also many colors spread among many areas of the photo. The space of this picture is very nice, because the flags in the backround of the player and the stadium are very spaced out. Also the texture is unique because the fans and the big clock look very ridged and 3d.

Mr. Bishop, today in class the internet stopped working about halfway through the class. however i was able to read about the different elemets of art but did not get to comment on the pictures so i am doing now at home.
on july 27th the picture "fire in skyland" the main element of the picture is color. the light reflects off half of the trees, but a shadow is casted over the other half by the flames. forms of the flames and trees also acupy space in the picture.
on the august 3rd picture "air dry" negative space is used by the water and hair of the polar bear to take up the picture. also color is reflected in the picture
on august 10 the picture "Birds of a feather" uses the elements of texture to show the texture of the birds feathers. also shaper is used. the necks of the birds act as lines to enclose the space between the birds making it look like a windy shape showing the birds intertwined.

Prisoner's Statement had lines that were stronger in the front of the picture, and the ones in the background were fuzzier. This added more significance to the hand in the front. It also had more color in the front to add emphasis.
July 26-July 20
Walkie Past the Talkie had brighter colors around the eyes to make them stand out more. It had lines differentiating the face from the sidewalk. The texture of the face made it very realistic.
I am very sorry for the delay; had my computer been loading things faster I would have had it done in class.

Joe Buettner,4th period,Thurs.Aug,7th. Picture Perfect. I chose this picture because I love how it is so colorful. Right when you look at it the color are so vibrant. The textures on all of the colors is being used. Also shape with almost everything in the picture being shaped differntly. The color's being used in this pic. is just amazing. MY second favorite pic. was posted on Aug.,14th, it is titled say ahh... This picture also brings out a vibrant color scheme and also the value is very high. The texture is smooth and also rough with the artist in the mouth painting the sculpture. My 3rd picture I chose was posted on Aug,16th and is called Good clean fun. The picture just brings out so much action. the colors and shape jst make it feel liek your there. Not to mention the value is just perfect. The picture just shoust out fun! My fourth photo I chose was posted on Aug.,17th, it is called Dancing on Tradition. This is one of the obly photos I noticed the elements of lines. All the arms are going perfectly in the same pattern. Also the shapes of the clothing are the same and the body's all look very simular to give out a pattern. These photo's were fun to look at.

JUL 20-26: "Flood Ride" Color comes into play because the boy's red shirt stands out against the mostly green photo.
JUL 27-AUG 2: "Parisian Tour" Color is in this photo with the way the bikers stand out against the drab sky. Line also comes into play because the Eiffel Tower and the sky are extremely sharp and in focus, while the bikers are blurred. There is also a lot of space where the sky is.
AUG 3-9: "Remembering Hiroshima" Color is a really important part of this photo because it makes the lanterns stand out against the water. Value is also there with the way some lanterns are dark and some of the same color are lighter.
AUG 10-16: "Wet Walk" There's a lot of space surrounding the boy in the photo.
kite making in the yahoo photos july 20-26 is my favorite one because of how the bright almost neon thread colors look as well as tte vary deataled texture of the rope strands

I chose riot control, OCT. 5-11.
This photo has a perfect aperture setting and shutter speed. This shutter speed makes the gas look almost like a wall of white.And the aperture allows the police and the criminal in focus.
