1st photoshop assignment: Due Thursday, January 31

1. Open Photoshop and open the picture you wish to edit.

2. Once the picture is open crop the picture. In order to crop the picture to the correct size look under the tool menus and you will see a spot where you can change the crop tool to only fit 5x7

3. Go into image size and make sure your picture that was cropped is set to 5x7.

4. In image size you will need to look at the resolution which is in pixels.Write down how many pixels the croped picture is. You will need this information in order to complete your next step.

4. Go to file new

5. open a new file and set it to 5x7

6. In the resolution spot set the resolution to the amount of pixels in which the picture you cropped was and click ok

6. Click on the move tool and drag the resized picture into your canvas. To do this left click and hold inside of your picture. while still holding the left mouse key down, drag the picture into your canvas and release the left mouse key.

7. Make a copy of the background image by making a duplicate layer

9. Change your layer names so that they are relevant to the layer

10. Change your layers so that you can only read text and no thumbnails show

11. In a new layer add any format and sized text to your picture. (make sure
the text is large enough to read)

12. Make sure you have a copy of the original picture along with a saved copy of the new
image. To do this go to save as and rename your picture. Make sure that the file is saved as a psd file.
